BANDUNG - CAPITAL OF WEST JAVA PROVINCE

The capital city of West Java Province, Bandung is situated on a plateau 768 meters above sea level with a cool climate throughout the year. It has a population of approximately 3 millions. Several institutes of higher education are located here, including the country's prestigious Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). Take a short drive up to the mountain resorts of Lembang and the Bosscha Observatory, or even higher to the volcanic crater of Tangkuban Perabu, the only drive "drive-up" volcano. Visit the nearby Ciater Hot Spring Resort.

Other tourist attractions among others are: MANG UJO ANGKLUNG WORKSHOP: Mang Ujo's 'angklungs" are well-known for its fine workmanship and exact tuning of these bamboo musical intruments. His workshop is located in the villagae of Padasuka, 7 kilometers from the city of Bandung. Traditional music and dance performances are staged against a natural background of mountains and rice fields. Bambo handicraft and musical intruments are made and sold here. NUSANTARA AIRCRAFT INDUSTRY (IPTN): Approximately 6 kilometers from downtown at Jalan Pajajaran, this is the only aircraft industry in Indonesia which produce CN-235 aircrafts. GEDUNG SATE: An elegantly arhitectured building with "sate" stick on the roof top, built in 1892. The building is used as the centre of administration of West Jawa provincial government.
